Terms of Use

These terms cover the SugarWalk app. Privacy is a separate document — see the Privacy Policy, which explains what stays on your phone and why most of it never leaves.

SugarWalk is licensed, not sold. Your licence is Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, the standard terms that apply to App Store apps. The terms below are the SugarWalk-specific parts and sit alongside it; where the two genuinely conflict, Apple's agreement governs.

What SugarWalk does

SugarWalk makes apps you choose unavailable for a period after your meal times, and ends that period early once your phone has seen about ten minutes of movement. It is a habit tool. Using it means Apple's Screen Time feature will restrict apps on this device at times you have configured.

What SugarWalk is not

It is not a medical device, and nothing in it is medical advice. It does not diagnose, treat, monitor or prevent anything. It does not measure, estimate or display any physiological quantity — there is no blood-sugar reading in it and no number about your body.

What the app and this website describe about walking after eating is general information drawn from published research, which is linked on the home page so you can read it yourself. Those studies are findings about groups of people, not predictions about you. Decisions about your own health belong with a clinician who knows your situation — particularly if you have diabetes or any other condition, take medication that affects blood sugar, or have been advised to limit activity.

Blocking is not a safety mechanism

SugarWalk restricts ordinary apps you select. Do not rely on it in an emergency, and do not use it to block anything you might urgently need. It shields only the apps you choose yourself and never chooses any for you — so if you select something you may need in a hurry, it will be blocked like anything else. A block can always be ended: skip it in the app, push it back thirty minutes, or turn SugarWalk off entirely. Nothing here can hold your phone hostage, and it is not designed or tested as a safety control.

Trial, payment and cancellation

SugarWalk starts with a 14-day free trial with everything unlocked. No card is required to begin, and there is nothing to cancel if you do nothing — the trial simply ends.

After the trial you can continue on a paid plan. Monthly and yearly plans are auto-renewing subscriptions; a one-payment option is not a subscription and does not renew. Prices are shown in the app before you buy, in your own currency.

• Purchases are handled by Apple, charged to your Apple Account. SugarWalk never sees or stores your payment details.
• A subscription renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Apple charges the renewal within 24 hours of the period ending.
• You manage or cancel a subscription in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your device, not in SugarWalk. Cancelling stops future renewals; the plan you have paid for runs to the end of its period.
• Refunds are handled by Apple, under Apple's terms, at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue a refund for an App Store purchase ourselves, though we would rather hear from you than have you wonder.

If a plan lapses, SugarWalk stops blocking. It does not hold your apps and does not delete your meal times or your history.

Your side of it

Use SugarWalk on devices you own or control, and don't use it to restrict another adult's device — Apple's entitlement terms prohibit that, and the app has no feature for it. Don't attempt to resell, redistribute or reverse-engineer the app beyond what the law allows you to do regardless.

Changes, and ending it

Features may change, and these terms may be updated; the date above says when this version was written, and material changes will be described in the app or on this site rather than quietly. You can stop at any time by turning SugarWalk off or deleting it — deleting removes its data from your phone. We may end a licence for genuine misuse, which in practice means the things listed above.

Warranties and liability

SugarWalk is provided as it is, without a promise that it will suit a particular purpose or run without fault. It depends on Apple frameworks and on your device's sensors, and neither is perfect: movement can go uncredited, and a block can end later than you hoped.

To the extent the law allows, total liability is limited to the greater of what you paid for SugarWalk in the twelve months before the problem arose, or the total you have ever paid for it. Nothing here excludes anything that cannot lawfully be excluded — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, and your statutory consumer rights, which vary by state and which these terms do not replace.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas and the federal laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Texas, and both of us consent to that. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer-protection rules of the place where you live.

The rest

If any part of these terms is held unenforceable, that part is limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary and everything else stays in force. Not enforcing something straight away is not giving it up. These terms, together with Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement and the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement about SugarWalk and replace anything said earlier. You may not transfer your rights under them; we may transfer ours if SugarWalk itself changes hands, and your rights are unaffected if that happens.
